Becky + Danny (US)

When I first met Becky and Danny on skype to plan their wedding day, I felt instantly that we were a perfect match for each other.
This funloving couple from America traveled to Bergen to get married, they flew over 40 of their closest friends and family and had a beautiful destination wedding in Bergen, and I was so privliged to be there to capture the day.

The day was being held at Cornelius seafood restaurant, a restaurant on an island outside Bergen, but before we got there I met with Becky as she got ready for her big day. Her fiery red hair with a side cut and the beautiful dress made her look like a real rock and roll bride.

Our plan was to take the official images before we met with the family, but before that I wanted to document the first-look.
I had Danny waiting for Becky in the garden outside the guesthouse To Søstre Gjestgiveri where they were staying during their visit in Bergen. A beautiful guesthouse in the middle of the city center of Bergen, here they could fit the closest family, and be within walking distance to the hotel where the guests were staying and pretty much everything else that the city has to offer.

As Becky moved towards Danny, he slowly turned around to fully take in his bride, and I got emotional and teary-eyed behind the camera, watching how they embraced each other, smiled and kissed in pure joy.

For the wedding photos we started the day off by taking a strol through the town. Bergen has the most incredible small streets, with tiny wooden houses and so much charm. The couple wanted some of the essence of Bergen to show in the pictures, and I am proud to show them all the secret streets and quirks.

After our stroll through the streets of Bergen (called Smau by the way) we ventured to the tram taking us up mount Fløyen.
Any tourist visiting Bergen has to take a trip to Fløyen, it’s an absolute must. Fløibanen as the tram is called took us up the mountain, and as we got off we were presented with the spectacular view that the top of Fløyen has to offer.
Here we took the remaining pictures, before we made our way down to meet with the wedding-party waiting for us by the docks.

To get to the island that the Cornelius restaurant is on, you have to get on a boat. It was on this boat that Becky and Danny were to get married and exchange their vows.
The guests were eager to hear them express their love for each other, and in between the rumble of the motor and the waves - they did.

Becky and Danny exited the boat doors as husband and wife, and were ready to celebrate!

below are some of my favorite images of the day

Cornelius seafood restaurant is a pure diamond if you want to go somewhere special for your wedding or for a romantic dinner. It’s unique location makes you feel like you are floating in the ocean, and you can taste the salt in the air gently blowing in through the open windows.
The venue for the dinner is called “Skjæret” and is a beautiful glass house, which ensures that you have the stunning view of the fjord.
As the sun slowly set, bathing the sky and nordic landscape with warm red light, the wedding guests ate their food, drank their drinks and told beautiful and heartfelt stories about the newlyweds.
There was laughter, tears and cheering, and everybody seemed to have the time of their lives.
As the dinner came to an end, it was time to move down to the bar area below, where the room was ready for a good party.
I statyed with them for the entire day, and made my departure at the last dance.
At midnigh I got on the last boat to take me back to Bergen, and I smiled all the way back as I enjoyed a good glass of wine and thought to myself; What a fantastic job I’ve got!

This destination wedding was truly one of a kind, and an experience I will never forget. Everybody had such a good time, and I loved working with the images afterwards.

Read what Rebekah wrote about their experience:

“When my husband and I started planning our destination wedding in Bergen, we knew capturing the day with the help of a professional and knowledgeable local photographer would be essential to documenting and preserving our special day. We especially wanted a photographer who could capture artistic candid and documentary style photos that told the story of our special day beyond posed  pictures of our 40 guests. Kristine was the perfect photographer to capture this vision and a joy to work with throughout the entire process. From our initial email communication while still in the United States, to the wedding day, to the delivery of our pictures, Kristine was communicative, easy to work with, flexible, creative and fun. During the planning stages, she arranged Skype meetings to get to know us and our story, answered our many questions, and helped us plan all logistics even those we hadn't initially considered. She even offered a local perspective regarding Bergen restaurants and sites for us to share with our guests. After arriving in Bergen, we enjoyed meeting with her over drinks to confirm details and a day of schedule including carefully considered options for rain or shine. Although we initially weren't sure if we wanted couple's photos, we now both agree that our couple photo session was one of the best parts of our wedding day. Kristine made the session so comfortable and fun that it felt like we were exploring Bergen with a good friend while having our pictures taken. It was truly an unforgettable part of the day full of unique picturesque views and genuine laughs and smiles. During the ceremony and reception, Kristine struck the perfect balance between confidently helping organize posed group shots and fading into the background to allow her to capture candid shots. We were absolutely thrilled by the results! Her unique artistry and talent is obvious in every photo we received. Thanks to Kristine looking through our album tells our wedding day story in the more emotional and vivid detail than we ever imagined possible.
After exceeding all of our expectations, Kristine also facilitated a local newspaper in writing an article about our choice of Bergen as our destination. The day after our wedding, one of her most stunning couple's photos was featured on the front page along with an article about us and our guests”
