Mona + Jon

Mona and Jon were the last ones to get married for my 2019 season. And they ensured to give me a proper sendoff.

For this wedding I traveled to the beautiful town Vik in Sogn, which is a small town with approximately 2600 inhabitants, surrounded by the most stunning mountains.
What made this trip extra special was the fall colors.
Wherever you turned your head, you were met with absolute stunning scenery, and my jaw kept dropping. What a beautiful country Norway is.

I arrived Friday evening, and spent the night at Hotel Blix.
I slept like a baby, listening to the sounds of nature around me, with the cool October air coming through the window.

When I woke up, I started the day with a good breakfast and a lovely cup of coffee, taking in the view, getting ready to photograph the wedding.

I met Mona with her Make up artist / Hair Stylist in their room.
They were laughing and having light conversations, and I could hear them trough the door. It was very clear that they were excited for the day.
To take the edge off, the bride was enjoying a beer, her favorite, and pink hair extentions were lying on the table in front of her, and I couldn’t miss the huge white platform boots in the corner, her chosen footwear for the occation - A real rock and roll bride.

As the bride got ready, I went outside to meet with the groom - Jon. He was wearing a smoking, that Mona had designed and made herself!
They were meeting up before the ceremony, and I was there to photograph the first look.
You could taste the excitement in the air.
As Mona came walking behind towards her soon to be husband, she put his hands in front of his eyes and he slowly turned to see his bride for the first time.
Her dress, which she also designed and made herself, flowing in the breeze.
His smile told a story of love and devotion, and his teary eyes could not lie. As they both stood there, taking each other in they started to whisper sweet nothings into each others ears.

The location where the reception was being held was small and intimate, perfect for a wedding with the closest family and friends.
The mayor of Vik was the officiant, and Guns n’ Roses started playing as Mona and Jon came walking down the makeshift isle.
The ceremony was quick and beautiful, they both said their I do’s and they got the rings on. As they kissed for the first time as husband and wife, applause filled the room.
Now it was time to party!

We left the wedding guests for a few hours to do the official wedding photos.
Mona and Jon took me to the most beautiful places in Vik. We went to a beautiful viewpoint, overlooking the town and the fjord, to a river where they had childhood memories ans to a beautiful stave church, one of the few that are left in Norway.
The results are beautiful, and I am so happy I got to spend time with this amazing couple.
When we came back from the photo shoot, everybody was waiting with excitement, ready to have dinner and dance the night away. I stayed for a little bit until I quietly made my exit.

Thank you Mona and Jon for choosing me as your wedding photographer, I had a blast!
